This policy explains what personal information the SnowGrid app collects, why, who it is shared with, how long it is kept, and how you can get it deleted. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
SnowGrid is business software sold to snow removal companies. That changes who is answerable for your data, and it is worth being clear about it up front.
| If you are… | Who controls your data | Our role |
|---|---|---|
| A snow removal company using SnowGrid to run its operations | You do, for the data you enter about your own customers, staff and properties | We process it on your behalf |
| A customer booking snow removal, or a contractor doing the work | The company you booked with, or work for | We provide the software they use |
| Anyone, for account and app data (your login, crash reports) | AppVion Studio | We control it directly |
If you are a customer or contractor and want your information corrected or removed, you can contact us directly using the details at the end — but the company you deal with may also hold records we cannot decide for them.
We do not run advertising, we do not use an advertising identifier, and we do not use behavioural analytics, profiling or tracking software. We do collect crash reports, so that we can fix faults — that is described below. The app requests only the permissions it needs to do its job.
Where the UK/EU GDPR applies, our legal bases are: performance of a contract (running the service you signed up for), legitimate interests (keeping the app working, secure and free of fraud), legal obligation (retaining financial records), and consent where you grant a device permission such as location, camera or notifications. You can withdraw a device permission at any time in your phone's settings; parts of the app that depend on it will stop working.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We use the following service providers to run SnowGrid:
| Provider | What it handles |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, file storage, authentication |
| Google Firebase | Push notifications and crash reporting |
| Mapbox | Map display |
| Your device's geocoding service | Turning an address you type into a map location. On Android this is the operating system's built-in geocoder, provided by Google. |
| Brevo | Sending account emails, such as password resets |
Your information is also visible to the snow removal company you are dealing with, which is the point of the product. Contractors see the jobs assigned to them; customers see their own jobs and properties. Companies cannot see each other's data.
We may disclose information if we are legally required to, or to protect the rights and safety of users.
Our infrastructure providers operate globally and your information may be processed outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, transfers rely on the providers' standard contractual clauses.
Please read this part carefully, because it is the part people are usually surprised by. When you delete your account, your sign-in is permanently destroyed and your personal details are erased — but the job and payment records connected to you remain with the snow removal company you dealt with.
On deletion we erase: your login credentials, your name, your email address, your phone number, your service address, any notes about you, and any stored location for a contractor account.
We retain: the jobs that were booked and the payment records against them. Those are the company's own financial and tax records — they show work that was performed and money that was owed or paid — and they are not ours to erase. After deletion those records are no longer linked to a name, an email address or a phone number.
Crash reports are retained by Firebase Crashlytics on its own schedule and are not linked to your name.
In the app: tap the account button in the top right of your dashboard, choose Delete account, and confirm. It takes effect immediately.
Without the app: use the request form at appvionstudio.com/snowgrid/delete-account.
If you are a snow removal company (an admin account): you cannot delete your account from within the app, because doing so would also remove your contractors, your jobs and payment records other people rely on. Email support@appvionstudio.com from the address on the account. We will acknowledge your request within 3 business days and complete it within 30 days, after confirming with you what should happen to the contractors, jobs and payment records held under your company.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: access the information we hold about you; correct it; delete it; object to or restrict how we use it; receive a copy in a portable format; and complain to your local data protection authority. In the United States, this includes rights under state privacy laws such as the CCPA/CPRA in California; in Canada, under PIPEDA.
We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising these rights. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We will respond within 30 days.
SnowGrid is business software and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and the app is listed for an adult audience. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Authentication tokens are stored in the Android Keystore, the app's local database is encrypted, connections to our servers are pinned to their certificates, and access to data is restricted per company at the database level. No system is perfectly secure, but these are not decorative measures.
If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will update the date at the top and notify you in the app or by email. Continuing to use SnowGrid after a change means you accept it.
